THIS LOOKS LIKE AN ATTEMPT TO REORGANIZE AND FOCUS ON CLOUD

If the recent reports from TechCrunch  are to be believed, Microsoft is planning a massive layoff around the world to restructure the company’s salesforce worldwide. Bloomberg  also reported a similar thing hinting at global sales reorganization at Microsoft and this new report is in line with that.

The report mentions that the reorganization would be in the form of a merger of the company’s enterprise customer unit and one or more of its SME-focused divisions. It also mentioned that Azure is going to be the center product for the company.

Azure has been quite profitable for Microsoft and the company might be planning to expand its reach. The cloud platform registered a sales growth of 93 percent during the third quarter. While there is competition from Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform, it makes sense for the company to make Azure their prime focus.
